SKOLORR Comments

Whereas the rose gold version feels more classically elegant, this black ceramic version is almost futuristic in its aesthetic; the sort of timepiece you could imagine peeking from beneath a Kingsman’s cuff.

Inspiration

Overview

In a feat of mechanical engineering – placing the chronograph module at the centre of the movement – the hours, minutes and seconds registers are placed in the middle of the dial, with the time being read from the hours at the innermost ring to the seconds at the outermost. To ensure you get a good view of all the horological fireworks – the movement is dizzyingly beautiful to look at – the rotor is dial side; something that is usually impossible with a chronograph. Paying homage to the unfinished Constellation Egg of 1917, the Visionnaire Chronograph carries a laser-engraved etching of the egg, visible only to those who know where to seek it.

Given that a chronograph is traditionally derived from the pioneering worlds of cars, sport and space travel, the black ceramic version's stronger aesthetic seems to suit the complication's futuristic layout. Yet it has the class to flirt with that line between sports and dress.

Inspiration

Inspired by a desire to simplify the chronograph, and to mark 100 years since the Russian Revolution, Fabergé, in conjunction with Agenhor, has challenged the convention to create a new standard in charting time, unlike any other chronograph ever made.

Despite a popular design layout, getting a read on a chronograph’s sub dials is not all that intuitive. The lightbulb moment came to the teams at Fabergé and Agenhor, the Swiss movement specialist in unique complications, when they sat down to totally reinvent this complication.

In The Know

“The Fabergé Visionnaire Chronograph is that rare watch introduction that contains a movement that warrants its own introduction.” Forbes

"The design’s real value, however, is intellectual rather than physical. Wiederrecht’s thorough rethinking of the chronograph system emphasizes that ingenuity is still a prized component of mechanical watchmaking." Robb Report

"Say whatever you will, however, this seemingly simple reorganization of the chronograph layout does take a good dose of thinking out of the box to come out with." Revolution

“Without degrading all other chronographs, it must be said that legibility of the new Fabergé Visionnaire Chronograph beats most other chronographs.” Monochrome Watches
