Taking its name from a blunt stone obelisk that showed sailors where the mouth of the river Dart was, this watch is as refined as Schofield gets.

Blunt stone obelisks aren’t usually the inspiration for watches, but this Daymark, so named after the hunk of stone at the mouth of the River Dart that helped sailors navigate (the name literally means a mark you can see in daylight) is as monumental as its name suggests.
Just describing things such as the case, which is a single block vapour-blasted stainless steel, makes it sound as strong and unrelenting as Portland stone; a feeling that is compounded by grey on grey dial and chunky hands. However, there is elegance here. It is in the fine-pointed luminescent indices; the brand name replacing the nine minute markers between five and seven and the worked crown.
It even has a sapphire caseback through which you can see the ETA 2824 whirring away. Schofield are unlikely to make a watch that slips discreetly under a shirt cuff anytime soon but if you want rugged with a touch of refinement then this is the watch for you. And, rather like realising the perfection in the suited brute of Daniel Craig’s James Bond, you’ll wonder why you were ever in thrall those suave Pierce Brosnan-style timepieces when you could have had this all along.
Taking a lone obelisk as inspiration has led to Schofield creating a watch that combines windswept aloofness with an edgy elegance.
