Employing a degree of openworking rarely accomplished with such conviction in the world of haute horology, the Flying Tourbillon Skeleton exposes its inner workings with complete transparency. Components are skeletonised to reveal a mechanical sculpture consisting of watch gears, space, shadow and light. A feat of balance and strength, the structure of the movement revolves around the symmetry of the barrel at 12 o’clock and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

Determinedly modern, the flying tourbillon sits in a cantilevered cage mounted on ceramic bearings, while its pallet and pallet wheel are in silicon. The barrel, crowned with the brand’s coat of arms, is also openworked revealing its spring. The MR06 manual winding caliber offers a power reserve of more than four days, and true to form, all key visible elements have been meticulously hand-finished.

Drawing on a contemporary and nonconformist vision of watchmaking, the Flying Tourbillon Skeleton plays with volumes, contrasting materials and colour. The bridge, mainplate, barrel and the tourbillon cage are CVD-treated to obtain a chocolate shade offering deep reflections. The smooth curves of the case meanwhile are enhanced by two side-lugs held by screws which secure the middle case to form elegant horns. The case is executed with optimal comfort in mind, despite its generous 43 mm size.
