Husband and wife duo, Craig and Rebecca Struthers look more like they should be starring in a Burberry campaign than hunched over a workbench. But these cut-and-thrusting young watchmakers possess a rare set of skills, ranging from silversmithing to gemology – all of which they bring to bear on the gorgeous designs they hand-craft in-house.
Having graduated from Birmingham Institute of Art and Design, and still being based in the city’s famed Jewellery Quarter, it’s hardly surprising they started out in watch restoration. But that’s informed a keen sensitivity for vintage horology and design, combined with a modern “hipster” sensibility of authenticity and a touch of retro. Rebecca is even a doctor of antiquarian horology, making this stylish young woman a pioneer in a closeted male circle.
To buy a watch from Struthers London is to invest in something unusual, and unusually British.
